The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) shelled multiple locations in north and west Omdurman with artillery on Friday, according to a report released by the Sudanese Health Ministry, resulting in seven fatalities and twenty-five injuries.
According to the ministry, the RSF expanded the shelling to encompass Omdurman’s northern countryside and northwest regions, targeting areas in the Karari locality from their strongholds in Khartoum Bahri and southwest Omdurman.
The shelling of civilian-populated areas in Karari and other sections of Omdurman was confirmed by a ministry statement. One market in the region, Bir Hammad, west of Umm Badda neighborhood, was attacked. It is the only market there and is frequently crowded with residents. The Al-Thawra area, the Chinese hospital, and Omdurman’s Bant market were also affected by the bombardment.
According to the statement, “the shelling resulted in the deaths of seven civilians, including three women and a child, and injured 25 others, the majority of whom had to have limbs amputated.” According to the information provided, Al-Naw Hospital treated 17 wounded from Bir Hammad, 3 from Al-Huda Prison Housing, 2 unidentified people, and 1 from each of Al-Thawra’s neighborhoods 14 and 31.
Three fatalities out of the 10 casualties reported to the Military Medical Corps Hospital were also reported.
The Sudanese army targeted RSF meetings in Khartoum, Khartoum Bahri, and west and south Omdurman, where RSF soldiers are still stationed in the Umm Badda area and the Salha suburb, with a concentrated artillery bombardment earlier on Friday.
