Russian President Vladimir Putin and Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye held discussions on Friday to address counterterrorism efforts in the Sahara-Sahel and West Africa, according to a Kremlin statement.
The talks highlighted the instability in the region caused by terrorist groups and explored ways to strengthen ties between the two nations in trade, investment, and joint ventures, particularly in energy, transportation, and agriculture.
Putin also extended an invitation to Faye to visit Russia, underscoring efforts to deepen bilateral relations.
The call came as provisional results from Senegal’s recent elections revealed a decisive victory for Faye’s ruling party, securing a strong parliamentary majority.
