Rwanda and Guinea have signed 12 memoranda of understanding to strengthen their bilateral cooperation. The agreements were finalized during a Joint Permanent Commission meeting held in Kigali, addressing key sectors such as tourism, administrative reform, public administration modernization, diplomacy, and economic growth.
Among the key agreements is a collaboration between the Guinea Export Promotion Agency (AGUIPEX) and the Rwanda Development Board (RDB). Additionally, a significant partnership was formed between RDB and the Guinea Special Economic Zone Agency (ADAZZ).
The meeting was co-chaired by Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Olivier Nduhungirehe, alongside his Guinean counterpart, Morissanda Kouyate. The ministers underscored the importance of exploring trade opportunities and fostering mutual growth.
Minister Nduhungirehe remarked, “The Joint Permanent Commission will be an essential platform for dialogue and collaboration. Engaging our experts and delegations will help us identify projects that can enhance synergies between our countries in the long term.” He added that the partnership is grounded in a complementarity approach, allowing Rwanda to benefit from Guinea’s mining expertise while Guinea can draw on Rwanda’s strengths in innovation and digitization of public services.
Minister Kouyate reiterated these points, highlighting the strong relationship between the two nations. He stated, “The agreements we are signing today encompass various sectors, including diplomacy, defense, justice, economy, finance, new technologies, information and communication, vocational training, and crafts. These areas provide significant opportunities for bilateral cooperation.”
In recent years, Rwanda and Guinea have made notable progress in their partnership, formalizing agreements in agriculture, energy, and tourism, as well as establishing embassies in each other’s capitals. These efforts, supported by official visits from Presidents Paul Kagame and Mamadi Doumbouya, are expected to further enhance collaboration and development between the two countries in the years to come.
