Ministers from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) are set to gather at Zimbabwe’s New Parliament Building in Mt Hampden for the SADC Council of Ministers meeting, which will run from March 13 to 14.
Zimbabwe’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Professor Amon Murwira, will chair the meeting, which will bring together representatives from all 16 SADC member states. According to a statement from the ministry, the council will review progress on implementing previous decisions made at past SADC summits and ministerial meetings.
The gathering follows preparatory sessions held from March 4 to 7, including the SADC Standing Committee of Senior Officials, the Finance Committee meeting, and discussions on the Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP) 2020-2030.
In addition to the ministerial meeting, Zimbabwe will also host the SADC-European Union Ministerial Partnership Dialogue on March 15. This session, co-chaired by Professor Murwira and Poland’s Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, aims to strengthen cooperation in areas such as peace and security, trade, and sustainable economic development.
