Liverpool is very close to signing a new contract with its living legend, Mohamed Salah.
Negotiations between the player’s camp and the club are ongoing. It is reported that the talks are heading in a positive direction and that the deal is close to being finalized.
Many clubs, especially from Saudi Arabia, are interested in signing the Egyptian star — which is quite normal. Since arriving at Liverpool in 2017, Salah has been one of the team’s standout players. This season, he leads the Premier League with 27 goals and also tops the assist chart with 17. These stats clearly show how important he still is for the team.
Salah also played a major role in helping Liverpool end their 30-year wait for a league title. Despite repeatedly expressing his desire to stay, the Egyptian star went months without being offered a new contract. After a 3-0 win against Manchester United in September, Salah told Sky Sports that this would be his final year at Liverpool.
In November, he admitted that the chances of staying were probably lower than leaving. Alongside Salah, the futures of Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold were also uncertain.
However, Van Dijk recently confirmed that his contract talks with the club are heading in the right direction.
“There is progress, yes,” he said. “These are internal discussions and we’ll see. I love the club, I love the fans, and they were with us again [against Fulham].”
The situation is a bit different for Alexander-Arnold compared to the other two stars. Rumors are growing stronger that the player is in talks with Real Madrid over a potential free transfer.
