Sale Sharks will be adding South African back row Jacques Vermeulen from Exeter Chiefs to their squad.
Jacques Vermeulen will be playing for Sale Sharks from the next season, aiming to help the team achieve success over the next two years. The 1.98-meter forward has made over 100 appearances for Exeter Chiefs and won the Premiership and European Champions Cup double in 2020.
Vermeulen made the following statement about his transfer:
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining Sale Sharks,”
“I’ve heard nothing but great things about the club’s structure and incredible fan base, and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
“I already have some good friends in the squad, which will make the transition even smoother, and I truly believe this team has the talent and ambition to achieve big things.”
“I’m excited to contribute and give my all for the club, and I can’t wait to get started. Sale Sharks are a very physical outfit and that suits my style of play.”
Although Vermeulen played seven matches for South Africa’s under-20 national team, he never had the opportunity to play for the senior national team later in his career.
