Seychelles and Lebanon have strengthened their diplomatic and bilateral relations through the signing of a visa waiver agreement, enabling citizens of both nations to travel without visa requirements.
The agreement, aimed at facilitating movement between the two countries, was signed in New York by Ambassador Ian Madeleine, Seychelles’ Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and Hadi Hachem, Chargé d’Affaires of Lebanon’s Permanent Mission to the UN.
Seychelles, a popular Indian Ocean archipelago, does not require a visa for entry but mandates all visitors to obtain travel authorization via its Seychelles Electronic Border System before departure.
This development highlights Seychelles’ commitment to enhancing global mobility for its citizens, whose passport continues to be the strongest in Africa. According to the Henley Passport Index, Seychelles ranks 26th globally in the first quarter of 2024, allowing visa-free access to 153 countries. This marks an improvement from its 29th position in 2023.
The visa waiver agreement with Lebanon reflects Seychelles’ ongoing efforts to foster stronger international partnerships and ease travel for its citizens and visitors.
