Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio welcomed Algeria’s Special Envoy, Sofiane Chaib, in a meeting aimed at deepening diplomatic and economic cooperation between the two nations.
Sofiane Chaib, who also serves as Algeria’s Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of the National Community Abroad, delivered a message from Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, reaffirming Algeria’s commitment to fostering closer ties with Sierra Leone.
During the meeting, Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Timothy Musa Kabba, highlighted the significance of the envoy’s visit as a continuation of President Bio’s diplomatic efforts. He referenced the president’s state visit to Algeria in March 2023, which set the foundation for enhanced collaboration.
“This visit reflects President Bio’s dedication to strengthening our relationship with Algeria. It underscores the mutual commitment to fostering growth and cooperation,” Minister Kabba said.
Delivering President Tebboune’s message, Chaib expressed Algeria’s gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized his country’s readiness to enhance bilateral ties.
“On behalf of His Excellency President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, I convey a message of solidarity and friendship to Sierra Leone. Algeria is committed to strengthening our relationship and exploring new opportunities for collaboration,” Chaib stated.
President Bio, in response, extended his appreciation to the Algerian envoy and reiterated Sierra Leone’s eagerness to advance its partnership with Algeria.
“This visit is a step forward in expanding our diplomatic and economic relationship with Algeria. We are optimistic about the opportunities this partnership presents for mutual benefit,” President Bio remarked.
The meeting concluded with both nations reaffirming their shared commitment to deepening bilateral relations and exploring avenues for further collaboration.
