Rudolph Gerhardus Snyman, who plays for Ireland’s champion club Leinster, will once again feature in the South Africa squad.
Snyman had to leave the national team due to a foot injury, causing him to miss the previous Rugby Championship. However, he has been delivering outstanding performances for Leinster recently.
As a result, it is expected that the two-time World Cup winner will have an easier time readapting to the national team. Additionally, star players like Damian Willemse, Andre Esterhuizen, and Franco Mostert will also return to the Springboks for this tournament.
South Africa has emerged victorious in the last two championships, and they are looking to extend this streak. In November, they will face Scotland on the 10th, England on the 16th, and Wales on the 23rd. Although the return of these players has strengthened coach Erasmus’ options, the injuries of Salmaan Moerat, Lood de Jager, Faf de Klerk, and Steven Kitshoff persist.
Erasmus made the following statements regarding the squad’s situation:
“There’s no doubt there are several unlucky players who could easily have made the touring squad, but unfortunately we can only select 34 players.”
“Damian, Andre, and RG all returned to action in the United Rugby Championship and have made a strong statement with their performances, and we all know what a workhorse Franco is and the quality he adds to the team.”
“We are under no illusions about the quality of the opposition we will face, and we have experienced firsthand how their home crowds lift them, much like our passionate supporters, so we know what it will take to be successful over there.”
“Fortunately, we have a squad that believes in themselves and their abilities, and that will be vital as we enter these matches.”
“Obviously we’ll take confidence from winning the Rugby Championship, but the reality is that’s now history, and there’s no doubt that will motivate the opposition even more to make a strong statement against us.”
