The Somali National Army (SNA) successfully eliminated 25 Al-Shabab militants during a military operation in Ras Qabow, a rural locality situated in the Middle Shabelle region, on Saturday.
According to Commander Mohamed Hassan Abukar Dhaladheere of the 251st unit of the 25th brigade, the operation was initiated after Somali forces thwarted an attack by the militant group, leading to a fierce confrontation between the army and the insurgents.
“The heroic acts of the National Army delivered a significant blow to the Khawarij [a term used by the government to refer to Al-Shabab] following their attempt to assault our base in Ras Qabow. We have confirmed the deaths of 25 militants,” Commander Dhaladheere stated. He mentioned that the military continues to hunt down other members of the group involved in the attack.
This operation follows recent successes where SNA forces killed 59 militants in two separate missions across the Galgaduud and Middle Shabelle regions. Collaborating with local militias and international allies, the SNA neutralized 32 militants in the Garilay area and 27 in Yaaqle, close to Hawadlay
