Somalia’s Prime Minister, Hamse Abdi Barre, has reiterated the call for national unity to counter Al-Shabaab and Daesh, identifying them as severe threats to the country’s stability.
During his address in Mogadishu, Barre highlighted the urgent need to tackle Militants, which he said endangers Somalia’s security, lives, and property. He also emphasized the dangers posed by separatist ideologies that threaten the nation’s unity and statehood.
The Prime Minister called on Somali intellectuals to play an active role in developing lasting solutions to these challenges. “We believe educated individuals, including yourselves, are essential to finding solutions for our country’s problems,” he stated.
According to Hiiraan Online Barre also shared his government’s commitment to strengthening the education system, with plans to enhance higher education and institutions at all levels. “A well-educated generation is critical to rebuilding and developing Somalia,” he said, underlining education as a cornerstone for future progress.
Al-Shabaab, an Al-Qaeda-linked group, has been waging an insurgency against the Somali government and African Union forces since 2007. Despite ongoing military operations, the group remains a major obstacle to Somalia’s peace and stability.
The Prime Minister’s remarks reflect the government’s determination to unite Somalis in the fight against Militants while focusing on long-term development and national cohesion.
