Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Antalya, Türkiye, on Thursday evening to take part in the 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, which officially kicked off on Friday under the theme “Reclaiming Diplomacy in a Fragmented World.” The forum runs through April 13 and gathers leaders, diplomats, and thinkers from around the world to address pressing global challenges through dialogue.
According to Somali Presidential Spokesperson Abdirahman Adam Ali, President Mohamud will deliver a keynote speech at the forum and hold a series of bilateral meetings with world leaders to advance Somalia’s foreign policy objectives.
“The President will use this opportunity to showcase Somalia’s diplomatic gains, economic vision, and its deepening cooperation with international partners — particularly Türkiye,” Ali stated.
The high-level forum, hosted by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has become a major platform for international diplomacy since its launch in 2021. President Mohamud is expected to focus on Somalia’s ongoing stabilization efforts, state-building agenda, and the Federal Government’s commitment to regional peace and development. He will also underline the strong and growing partnership between Somalia and Türkiye in key sectors including security, trade, and infrastructure.
This year’s Antalya Diplomacy Forum has drawn an impressive roster of participants, including Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, among others.
President Mohamud’s attendance comes at a time when Somalia is seeking to bolster its international presence and strengthen diplomatic and economic relations across regions.
