A landmark project is set to transform Somalia’s hospitality landscape with the construction of Mogadishu Rotana, the country’s first five-star hotel. Scheduled for completion in 2026, the hotel will boast 321 units, comprising 261 luxurious guest rooms and 60 serviced apartments. Additional features include a fitness center, spa, multiple dining venues, event spaces, and retail outlets, setting a new standard for luxury and service in the region.
Situated near Aden Adde International Airport, Mogadishu Rotana is part of a comprehensive urban redevelopment plan aimed at revitalizing the capital city. This transformative master plan also includes the establishment of a convention center, hospital, shopping mall, residential properties, business park, and school, creating a vibrant hub for business, tourism, and cultural activities.
Aleph Hospitality, a Dubai-based management firm with extensive experience across Africa, will oversee daily operations. With a strong track record in delivering exceptional service, Aleph aims to position Mogadishu Rotana as a symbol of modern hospitality and a cornerstone of Somalia’s economic renewal.
Rotana’s CEO, Philip Barnes, expressed pride in the project, highlighting its significance in promoting international business, tourism, and cultural exchange. He emphasized the company’s dedication to enhancing Somalia’s hospitality sector while expanding its global footprint.
Jibril Hassan Mohamed, Chairman of Riverside Holding, described the collaboration with Rotana as a pivotal moment for Somalia’s hospitality sector. He stated that the project reflects a commitment to Mogadishu’s economic and cultural renaissance, fostering growth and creating opportunities for the local community.
Rotana currently operates 81 properties worldwide and has a robust pipeline of projects across Africa, including new developments in Senegal, Ghana, Benin, and Egypt. The Mogadishu Rotana marks the company’s 118th property in the region, reinforcing its position as a leader in luxury hospitality.
This ambitious project is expected to significantly boost Somalia’s appeal as a business and tourist destination, paving the way for further investments and international recognition.
