The breakaway region of Somalia expressed its strong opposition to the Egyptian military’s recent deployment there and expressed grave concerns about the effects it may have on the stability of the region.
Somaliland issues a warning, stating that the entry of foreign forces into Somalia might have disastrous effects on the Horn of Africa, jeopardize the tenuous peace that has been established over many years, and increase tensions.
Additionally, it stated that Somaliland, being a sovereign state, strongly opposes any foreign military presence that would cause instability in the area.
Somaliland called on the international community to denounce Egypt’s actions and advance diplomatic solutions that uphold the rights of every country in the Horn of Africa to self-determination.
“Will not stand idly by in the face of actions that threaten its hard-won peace and the stability of the region,” Somaliland added in its warning.
