South Africa faced India in the Women’s Under-19 T20 Cricket World Cup. South Africa ended up on the losing side, allowing India to become world champions for the second consecutive time.
With an impressive performance, India managed to restrict South Africa to just 82 runs and successfully chased their target in 11.2 overs, securing a dominant nine-wicket victory.
The star of the match was Gongadi Trisha, who delivered an outstanding 3-15 bowling performance and remained unbeaten with 44 runs off 33 balls.
South Africa chose to bat first but fell behind 20-3 in the initial powerplay and struggled to recover. India’s spin bowlers controlled the game, ultimately bowling South Africa all out for 82 runs.
In response, Trisha took charge early with aggressive boundary shots, completely dominating the match. The 19-year-old rising star finished the tournament as the highest run-scorer with 309 runs.
Having won the inaugural tournament in 2023, India secured back-to-back U19 T20 World Cup titles. Meanwhile, despite the loss, South Africa demonstrated their potential and showcased a promising generation to the world.
