Lt. Gen. Bior Ajang Duot, a well-known figure and the former Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations of the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF), passed away, leaving South Sudan in sadness.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation’s Undersecretary, Ambassador John Samuel Bwogo, stated that General Bior died on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at his home in Juba from cardiac arrest.
On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Amb. Bwogo expressed condolences for the premature passing of General Bior.
Part of the statement said, “With heavy hearts, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation staff, including the deputy minister, undersecretary, and the honorable minister, announce the untimely death of Ambassador Bior Ajang, both at headquarters and missions abroad.” “Cardiac arrest claimed his life yesterday, Tuesday.”
Amb. Bwogo also sent his condolences to the friends, family, and kin of Gen. Bior.
Known by his other name, Bior Asuod, General Bior Ajang played a crucial role in the liberation effort of South Sudan. Bior, who was born in Kongor, Twic East County, Jonglei State, on January 1, 1947, was instrumental in the country’s struggle for independence.
In order to become a First Class Ambassador and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Gen. Bior left his post as Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense and Veterans Affairs in 2015.
In addition to his formal positions, he served as chair of the Twic East Community Association until his death, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to his community and nation.
