The Ramciel Cooperative Society, Bsmart Technology, and the government announced on Thursday that 45 trucks full of food goods would be delivered and sold at discounted prices.
National Trade and Industry Minister Joseph Moum Majak stated that the food items would be offered at specific locations at the announcement in Juba.
“The South Sudanese government imports essential food items to be sold to the general public,” Majak stated on behalf of the Ramciel Cooperative Society, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Finance and Planning, and other stakeholders.
“We have received rice, sugar, wheat flour, and maize flour as of right now,” he continued. The Minister of Trade emphasized that the effort would be sustained by the government for a certain amount of time.
“The goal of bringing these food items at reduced prices is to close the hunger gap, stabilize the market, and provide the public with access to necessities.”
“There are certain obstacles related to insufficient hard currency and limited road accessibility, but we are striving to cope prior to the onset of flooding,” he stated.
The Minister revealed that an additional thirty trucks containing food goods from Tanzania were scheduled to arrive.
Nevertheless, he omitted to mention the project’s funding level and the distribution criteria. Mabibor Anyang Ajang, the acting manager of B-Smart Technology, stated that the company intended to provide food in order to keep the market stable.”We provide every item to maintain market stability,” he stated.
