Sudan reiterated its claims against the United Arab Emirates, accusing it of backing the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the ongoing conflict and urging the UN Security Council to act against what it termed “continuous aggressive activities.”
In a letter to the Security Council President dated October 11, Sudan provided what it claimed was new evidence of the UAE’s military, financial, and logistical assistance to the RSF. This follows a formal complaint Sudan filed against the UAE on March 29, alleging the Gulf state was attempting to incite war and was aiding the RSF with support from Chad.
The letter mentioned cases of wounded RSF fighters receiving treatment at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Military Hospital and included images of heavy artillery ammunition boxes marked with the UAE’s name, reportedly captured after battles in Jabal Moya. Sudan also shared images of trucks with Dubai license plates that it alleged were used to transport weapons and stated that it had seized recently manufactured Emirati medicines and medical supplies from the RSF.
“These confiscated items are currently held by the Sudanese Armed Forces and can be examined by UN experts,” the letter indicated.
Sudan accused the UAE of “recruiting mercenaries” from various nations to fight alongside the RSF, providing them with financial, logistical, and diplomatic support.
According to the Sudanese Foreign Ministry, “The UAE’s conduct makes it a key partner in the war of aggression against Sudan.”
The letter further claimed that the UAE is “defying international law and the UN system” and accused it of pursuing a “settlement project” in Sudan based on “ethnic supremacy,” which threatens regional stability.
Sudan urged the Security Council to condemn the UAE and hold it accountable for its alleged actions. The UAE has previously denied these accusations.
