Sudanese military forces launched a large-scale offensive from the Al-Faw front in eastern Sudan, Gederaf state, to regain control of Wad Madani, the capital of Al Jazirah state. The attack is part of ongoing efforts to push back the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which took control of the area last year. The campaign follows the deployment of army and Darfur armed movement units along strategic locations near Wad Madani, with the army currently holding the Al Manaqil area.
The offensive coincided with the arrival of Assistant Commander Shams al-Din Kabbashi at the Al-Faw front, where military operations escalated. The army, supported by air force strikes, successfully captured key areas along the Gederaf-Wad Madani road, advancing toward the outskirts of the city. Heavy weapons, drones, and advanced artillery were deployed to support the ground offensive, with several RSF vehicles destroyed in the process.
The ongoing conflict has further strained Sudan’s internal situation, with Kabbashi and other top military officials inspecting the eastern front’s progress and morale. The army’s goal remains to fully recapture Wad Madani and its surrounding regions.
