Sudan has initiated a strategic humanitarian corridor through South Sudan to expedite aid to conflict-affected communities in South Kordofan. A team from Sudan’s Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) is in Juba working alongside South Sudanese officials to finalize the corridor’s logistics.
“This corridor is crucial for providing aid to vulnerable communities in South Kordofan,” stated Salwa Adam Bunia, the HAC Commissioner. “We are utilizing every option to ensure uninterrupted humanitarian access.”
This latest move builds upon Sudan’s ongoing aid efforts. Recently, HAC coordinated the dispatch of over 45 aid trucks from Port Sudan, heading to areas including Kassala, Gedaref, Khartoum, River Nile, and Northern states. Plans are also in place for airlifts to Kadugli and Dilling, slated to start soon.
Commissioner Bunia emphasized Sudan’s commitment to delivering humanitarian aid, aligning with pledges made at the Jeddah platform and other international settings.
“We value the partnership with South Sudan and the support from our global allies,” she added. “Our primary mission is to reach every citizen in need.”
