Sudan’s Minister of Energy and Oil, Dr. Mohieldin Naeem Mohammed Saeed, has confirmed that the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) will assist in inspecting and rebuilding the Khartoum Refinery, which suffered significant damage during recent conflicts. Dr. Saeed visited the refinery with senior officials, including the Director of Khartoum State Police and Security, to assess the extent of the destruction.
The Minister revealed that the refinery lost about 700,000 barrels of gasoline due to damage to several of its units. Despite these setbacks, Dr. Saeed praised the efforts of the refinery staff, who worked tirelessly to contain fires and mitigate further damage. He encouraged the technical teams to expedite repairs and restore operations swiftly.
The Director-General of the refinery highlighted the systematic damage and stressed that considerable efforts would be required to rebuild the facility. However, he expressed optimism about the refinery’s recovery with the support of both local teams and international partners like CNPC. This collaboration underscores Sudan’s commitment to rebuilding essential infrastructure and stabilizing its energy production after the conflict.
