Sudanese Army Takes Control of Kadru, Cutting RSF Supply Line
The Kadru neighborhood in Khartoum Bahri, north of Sudan’s capital, served as a crucial supply route for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to access petroleum from the Khartoum refinery. On Friday, the Sudanese army announced its successful capture of the area.
This victory follows just two days after the army crossed from Omdurman into the twin cities of Khartoum and Bahri in what is considered the largest military operation since the conflict erupted in the capital.
Following the capture of Kadru, the Sudanese army shared footage on Facebook, showcasing its officers and soldiers securing the neighborhood, located north of Khartoum Bahri.
In a video, Major General Al-Numan Awad Al-Sayed, commander of the Kadru military zone, declared the area liberated from “the rebellion” and vowed that the army would continue advancing to eliminate remaining resistance.
The footage also displayed homes in the Kadru area, which the army claimed had been looted by RSF forces, who had used them as military outposts to store weapons and armored vehicles.
In late May, the army accused the RSF of destroying the Halfaya Bridge, a key link between Omdurman and Bahri.
The RSF has yet to comment on the army’s recent offensive in Khartoum Bahri, which the army uses as a base for air raids on Omdurman. Videos released by the army also show its forces stationed just hundreds of meters from the Halfaya Bridge in Al-Azirab.
