Sudan’s leader, General Abdel Fattah al Burhan, is currently on a diplomatic tour across Africa, visiting Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Sierra Leone, and Senegal. During his meetings with African heads of state, including Guinea-Bissau’s President Umaro Sissoco Embalo, al Burhan discussed strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation.
Al Burhan emphasized that “colonial powers” continue to fuel conflicts across the African continent, citing the situation in Sudan where the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a paramilitary group, have been engaged in a rebellion against the state. He highlighted Africa’s rising determination to resist external interference and praised nations that have challenged both historical and contemporary forms of colonialism.
In his meeting with Embalo, al Burhan provided an update on the situation in Sudan, particularly following the recapture of Wad Madani from the RSF. The two leaders also expressed hopes for a peaceful resolution to Sudan’s ongoing conflict.
As part of his tour, al Burhan also held discussions with Mali’s Transitional President Assimi Goïta, focusing on strengthening Sudan-Mali relations and promoting mutual interests. The Sudanese leader emphasized Africa’s shared destiny and the need for mutual support and solidarity among African nations.
