Fighting between the two sides grew more intense in the region north of the city on Monday. The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) launched a violent offensive on a critical post near Khartoum Bahri, which was repulsed by Sudan’s army.
Since the fighting started in April, the RSF has seized control of the majority of Khartoum Bahri; nevertheless, the army continues to hold critical camps in the region, including as the Signal Corps, the Khattab facility, and the Kadaro base.
The media was informed by military sources that the RSF attacked the Khattab base and the outlying camp of Kadaro early in the morning.
In an effort to seize control of Khattab camp and Kadaro, the RSF organized a sizable contingent of fighters from the East Nile region in addition to its forces positioned near the Khartoum oil refinery in the town of Al-Jaili.
Following intense combat with the army that lasted until late Monday night, heavy artillery struck the Khattab base and the weapons stockpile.
On social media, the RSF claimed to have defeated the army and taken over the Khattab region. In Bahri and East Nile, the army claimed to have repulsed the raids and severely damaged the RSF, killing scores of soldiers as well as a few notable commanders. It added that it had taken control of four fuel-loaded trucks and destroyed military vehicles in addition to seizing others that were in good shape.
The army showcased the military and civilian cars that were taken and released images of many RSF inmates.
Major General Al-Numan Ali Awad Al-Karim the commander of the Bahri military region, verified the defeat of the assaulting forces on Tuesday when he visited the Khattab base and spoke to a gathering of soldiers. In the meantime, activists from the Bahri neighborhood said that the RSF had shot and murdered scores of civilians while also pillaging the town’s main market and numerous residents’ homes.
Furthermore, the army’s aircraft kept bombing areas in Bari, Al-Manshiya, Al-Riyadh, and other locations, believing that these were the locations of the RSF’s base. The army also heavily bombarded sites in Al-Mogran, the strategy’s headquarters, and Tuti in central Khartoum.
The military has intensified its air operations over the last few weeks, with jets continuing to attack locations in the Darfur region as well as Khartoum, Al-Jazirah, Sennar, and the White Nile.
