Tanzania is solidifying its position on the international stage by hosting a series of high-profile global conferences, a move aligned with President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s efforts to enhance economic growth and diplomatic engagement.
The country recently hosted the Africa Energy Summit and a joint summit of the East African Community (EAC) and Southern African Development Community (SADC) to discuss solutions to the ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). These events have drawn attention to Tanzania’s growing role in regional and global affairs.
Looking ahead, Tanzania is set to host the 73rd Airport Council International (ACI) conference in Arusha from April 24 to 30. The event, which will bring together aviation leaders, policymakers, and industry experts from across Africa and beyond, will focus on sustainable aviation and tourism under the theme: “Navigating Towards a Greener Future: Harnessing Sustainable Aviation and Tourism for Economic Prosperity.”
The conference will feature discussions on improving airport infrastructure, enhancing passenger and cargo safety, and expanding business opportunities within Tanzania’s aviation sector. Government officials highlight that Tanzania’s successful bid to host the event reflects ongoing investments in airport facilities and services.
In addition to the ACI conference, Tanzania will also host the 11th East African Petroleum Conference and Exhibition from March 5 to 7 in Dar es Salaam. This event will explore the role of petroleum resources in the region’s energy transition, attracting policymakers, international investors, and energy sector stakeholders.
The Tanzanian government sees these conferences as key drivers of economic growth, increasing tourism, attracting foreign investment, and fostering knowledge exchange. Officials encourage local businesses to take advantage of the opportunities arising from these global events.
Tanzania’s growing reputation as a hub for international conferences aligns with recent findings from the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), which recognize the country’s potential for expanding its presence in the global event-hosting market.
