Tanzania has launched the construction of the Ngorongoro-Lengai Geopark, a state-of-the-art facility set to elevate the country’s global tourism appeal. Scheduled for completion in May next year, the project is funded by the Chinese government at approximately 25bn/- and executed by China Railway 25th Bureau Group.
Tourism Minister Dr. Pindi Chana, during the foundation stone-laying ceremony in Karatu, emphasized the project’s significance for tourism, conservation, and disaster risk management. The park will also safeguard the Laetoli hominin footprints and enhance tourism information across multiple districts.
Chinese Ambassador Chen Mingjian lauded the initiative, underscoring its role in strengthening Tanzania-China relations while showcasing Tanzania’s rich heritage.
