One of Africa’s leading technology distribution companies, TD Africa, announced the graduation of 400 young Nigerian women from its TecHERdemy program.
The six-month training program covered areas such as Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Software Development.
Launched in November 2024, the initiative aimed to equip young women with globally relevant digital skills in order to address gender inequality in the technology field across Africa.
Keynote Speech by Dr. Leo Ekeh
During the event, Dr. Leo Ekeh, Chairman of Zinox Group and a prominent figure in Nigeria’s tech industry, delivered a speech.
He referred to the graduates as “the pioneers of a new, inclusive era of tech leadership on the continent.”
Ekeh expressed his confidence in the graduates’ ability to make lasting contributions to the tech space in Africa.
He also emphasized the need for more inclusive initiatives like this and called for increased investment.
“Hold tightly to your values. Let integrity guide your work, let innovation fuel your dreams, and let your impact speak louder than your résumé,” he said.
Recognition for Exceptional Performers
Fifteen participants who demonstrated exceptional performance and leadership during the program were awarded prizes.
TD Africa stated that the TecHERdemy initiative is part of its broader commitment to reducing gender inequality in technology and accelerating digital inclusion across Nigeria.
A Bright Future for African Tech
“This graduation wasn’t just the end of a program,” said the company in its statement.
“It was the beginning of a brighter, more inclusive future for tech in Africa.”
TD Africa plans to continue its efforts to prepare more women for the technology sector through future programs and remains committed to finding solutions to this issue on the continent.
