Spain’s giant Sevilla has two players from the Nigerian national team: Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho. The two forwards, along with their teammates, found themselves stranded at an abandoned airport in Libya before their group matches.
The Nigerian players were unable to reach Libyan authorities and spent over 15 hours stuck at the airport. During this time, the Super Eagles endured difficult hours without any food or drink.
According to the Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, Sevilla attempted to arrange alternative flights for their players. However, this effort was unsuccessful, and it was only with the intervention of the Nigerian government that they were able to depart on Monday.
Following the resolution, the two players are expected to return to Sevilla’s training facilities and likely start training on Thursday.
