Moroccan company ToumAI wins Best AI Startup award at AfricArena 2024 in Tunisia.
Over the past five years, more than $150 million has been invested in the technology sector in Tunisia. Following these investments, Morocco has begun to be recognized as Africa’s top deep tech and AI hub.
AfricArena 2024 was supported by major sponsors such as Caisse des Depots et Consignations (CDC), the World Bank, Smart Capital, Startups & PME Innovantes, GIZ SAIS, AWS Startups, and Cloud Plexo.
Christophe Viarnaud, founder and CEO of AfricArena, emphasized that AI specialists across the continent are producing innovative solutions on a global scale during the event. He expressed gratitude to the supporting companies, stating that their contributions represent a significant step for Africa’s technological and digital development.
The award for Best Health Tech Startup was won by Tunisian company Saydalid, while the award for Best Deep Tech Startup went to Tunisian-origin Pixii Motors. The Sector Agnostic Best Startup award was won by Senegalese company Yello App, and the Most Promising Entrepreneur award went to Tunisian firm KidzRise.
These companies, which each received $25,000 in AWS Activate credits, will present their final pitches at the AfricArena Grand Summit in Cape Town, South Africa.
