The United States will stop all federal funding to South Africa, President Donald Trump announced on Friday.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that in addition to cutting financial support, South African farmers and their families seeking to leave the country for safety reasons would be given a “rapid pathway to citizenship” in the U.S. He added that the process would begin immediately.
According to U.S. government data, American foreign assistance to South Africa totaled $323.4 million in 2024.
