Uganda’s coffee export value saw a remarkable increase of 53.8% in September compared to the previous year, according to the Uganda Coffee Development Authority.
This rise is largely due to soaring global coffee prices, driven by dry weather in key coffee-producing countries like Brazil and Vietnam, which has impacted their yields.
As Africa’s leading coffee exporter, Uganda exported 532,212 bags (60 kilograms each) and generated $144.7 million.
However, the volume of coffee shipped declined by 7.7%, a decrease linked to poor flowering in the early stages of crop development.
