The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has scheduled its monthly briefing on Libya for December. Stephanie Koury, the Charge d’Affairs of the UN mission in Libya, will provide an update on the latest political, security, and humanitarian developments in the country.
In its announcement, the UNSC highlighted Libya’s ongoing political deadlock and the growing rift between the Government of National Unity, led by Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, and the rival administration appointed by the House of Representatives, headed by Osama Hammad.
The briefing will focus on efforts to resolve disputes, particularly the formation of a unified interim government to facilitate long-awaited national elections.
