Vodacom Group has been named Africa’s number one employer by the Top Employers Institute.
The company, one of the continent’s largest telecommunications and digital service providers, received this award for its success in standards such as work environment, people strategy, talent acquisition, learning, and well-being.
Vodacom, which also won this award in 2023, has now been recognized for two consecutive years. Additionally, the company’s subsidiaries, including Vodacom Mozambique, Vodacom Tanzania, Vodacom South Africa, and Safaricom Kenya, also received this prestigious award.
Vodacom Group’s CEO, Shameel Joosub, commented on the award:

The company also strengthened its Employee Value Proposition by offering more comprehensive wellness initiatives to its employees.
Furthermore, the company is working to improve digital literacy in Africa and aims to provide digital skills training to 1 million Africans aged 18 to 35 by 2027.
Vodacom’s HR Head, Matimba Mbungela, shared that the goal is to promote talent and career development in the tech industry, investing in the continent to create a workforce prepared for the digital economy.
The company’s Digital Skills Hub, in collaboration with technology organizations like Microsoft and Amazon Web Services, aims to offer career opportunities in fields like mathematics, technology, science, and engineering to young people.
Additionally, programs like AWS Educate provide online training in areas such as cloud fundamentals, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
