The World Health Organization (WHO) has called on donors to contribute $262.3 million to provide critical health assistance to the people of Sudan amid a growing humanitarian crisis.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stressed the urgent need for support, stressing that two years of conflict have left Sudan in an unprecedented humanitarian situation.
“The UN has launched a $6 billion appeal to help nearly 26 million people. The health needs are immense and we are calling on donors to invest in humanity by contributing to the $262.3 million health appeal, which will support at least 9.4 million Sudanese people,” he said.
The funds will be used to provide essential health and nutrition services, vaccinations, maternal and child health, reproductive health, mental health support, medical supplies and measures to prevent and respond to disease outbreaks.
