Zambia has announced that it received a $120 million grant to accelerate its digital transformation.
Minister of Science and Technology Felix Mutati stated that digital transformation is of critical importance for Zambia, and this investment will be highly beneficial for the country in the long term.
Minister Mutati, along with Cabinet Secretary Patrick Kangwa and Zambia’s National Coordinator Percy Chinyama, participated in the Global Digital Summit. The session covered topics such as artificial intelligence and development, global digital progress, and the future of the working world.
The Minister will also hold meetings with the Secretary-General of ITU and the President of the World Bank. Afterward, he will visit Ethiopia’s Digital Identity exhibition.
Zambia’s initiative will contribute to bridging the digital divide in Africa. If the right investments are made with such funds, a sustainable development environment and economic prosperity can be achieved.
