South African hip-hop artist Nadia Nakai is set to perform at a homecoming party during the Shoko Festival’s Mash Up night on Friday, September 27, in Harare, Zimbabwe’s capital.
Nakai will join several artists at this long-running urban culture festival, including Kay Flow, Lalla Martin, RayKaz, the duo Shebeen Rap (Dough Major & Dingo Duke), Rutendo Jackie, and Bhekiwé.
Event organizer AneUnhu emphasized the night’s focus on unity among diverse creatives. “I’m honored to participate in this unique showcase, highlighting how much we share as a nation despite our differences. This event will strengthen our creative bond through various challenges we’ve faced,” said AneUnhu.
The Shoko Festival, themed #BothSidesOfSamora, aims to connect different social classes and will take place from September 26 to 28 in Harare and Chitungwiza.
Festival coordinator Vera Chisvo noted that Mash Up night will celebrate the cultural unity of different groups. “This is a moment where our shared experiences as Zimbabweans—spanning the vibrant South and the affluent North—come together to create a cultural explosion,” Chisvo explained.
